MANGIA BEVI BICI

July 9, 2023 sees the return of Mangia, Bevi e Bici, the Lake Maggiore food, wine and cultural pedaling event now in its 11th edition.

As always, the start and finish of the two unprecedented 2023 routes will be in Ispra. The organizational direction is in the hands of Bottega del Romeo, a reference point for cycling tourism in South Verbano.

There are two routes, a longer one (just over 35 km) and a shorter one (25 km), routes that this year will wind between Lake Maggiore and Lake Monate, crossing the municipalities of Ispra, Angera, Cadrezzate with Osmate, Comabbio, Travedona Monate, Brebbia, Besozzo and Monvalle.

The purpose of this event, which attracts hundreds of slow pedalers every year, is to enhance an area, which needs to believe more in its own beauty: the central theme, but not the only one, is water, the real treasure for our environment and for the culture and traditions of our territory, also known as the land of the Varese lakes.

ENOGASTRONOMIC STOPS

The food and wine stops include "classic" Mangia, Bevi e Bici stops such as in Capronno (at the food workshop Natura in moto), the ice cream shop Il Capriccio and the San Gabriele pastry shop in Ispra, but also novel proposals such as refreshments at the Moscheri farm in Travedona or at the "historic" trattoria Da Renata in Monvalle, a traditional place for lake fish.

Also back is the stop at the Casa don Guanella in Barza, immediately in the initial stages of the itinerary, but with an unprecedented and valuable refreshment: the first stop, based on focaccia and pizzas, will in fact be taken care of by the young people who adhere to the Locanda della Misericordia, the reception and integration project for prisoners at the end of their sentences.

The Eat, Drink and Bike routes this year are also a tribute to a typical product of our area, the Monate peaches, with visits to orchards and the involvement of two companies that are heirs to a great tradition, "Le Selve" and "De Munà."

Unprecedented passages of the eleventh edition include a crossing of the Golf Club dei Laghi in Travedona and a stop at the Pipa Museum in Brebbia.
