Friday 2nd February at 9.00 p.m. at the Biblioteca Civica G. Battaini di Castiglione Olona presents "Something is dreaming, a talk by Manuela Gandini - contemporary art critic, curator and lecturer at NABA in Milan - conceived as an immersion in the art and life of Europe from 1929 to today: a journey through time among the false gods of the 20th century, the spectres of Nazism, regime propaganda and surrealist visions. On the one hand the black magic of homologating and totalitarian power, on the other the visionary mysticism of art.
This talk involves a incursion into the dark zone of our history through the eyes of different figures with different characters. Words, gestures and films will intersect in a rhizomatic, unpredictable and bumpy path. The whole thing is conceived as a sort of purification rite. But the question presses on: "Have we really freed ourselves from history's most gruesome symbols?"
Admission is free.
