Back on 15 September 2024 “Just a Backpack, the discovery of the territory and its treasures” curated by Peripheral Theater.

There is a choice of two itineraries with different levels of difficulty: one for people accustomed to trekking in the mountains and one with flat walking sections and shuttle rides.

The walks will be accompanied by expert guides from Controvento Trekking and actors from Teatro Periferico with theatrical forays into the history of the area; the stops will be enlivened by zero-mile food from local farms.

Those who choose the facilitated route will take a trip back in time by visiting the old wash house from the early 1900s, the Hermitage of St. Joseph with its medieval frescoes and the trenches of the Cadorna Line with a headset narration between History and tales of the Battle of St. Martin. Before the lunch break there will be time for a guided tour of the Northern Frontier “Cadorna Line” Documentary Center, in the afternoon visit to the Il Vallone Farm and then an easy climb to the Büs e Becc viewpoint with a demonstration by Crespi Sport of Luino. The day ends in the beautiful theater of Cassano Valcuvia, an architectural jewel with a story of special interest that will be told in theatricalized form and will culminate with a snack offered to all participants.

The route for experienced walkers includes a climb to Vallalta with a visit to the Trenches of the Cadorna Line and Fort Vallalta in lieu of a visit to the Document Center and Vallone, while the rest of the stages coincide with the easy route.

Packed lunch, with the possibility of reserving tasty baskets based on local products from the gastronomy counter of “L'Angolo del Sorriso” in Cassano Valcuvia and from the kitchens of “Grotto del sorriso” where inclusivity and food quality are married.
