The route starts from Porto Ceresio, going along the board path to reach the hamlet of Cà del Monte, just above this village there is a tabernacle where the Swiss signpost is on the left. Following the directions and crossing into Switzerland, after passing the town of Serpiano, you begin to go up until you find Sant'Umberto, located in the Cassina area. At this point, taking a final climb, you reach the summit of Monte San Giorgio.
In addition to a breathtaking view, the importance of the mountain is given by the reason why the area was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites or the presence of fossil deposits belonging to the Middle Triassic.
