An easy path through the woods that in past ages inspired cults and religious rites.
We start from the Somma Lombardo Sports Camp (Coarezza) where we meet the ST / IP trail signs (Strona, a tributary of the Ticino) and follow the path that soon enters the woods. The area is full of visiting routes indicated in the Green Streets. We can admire tall trees such as Scots pine, English oak and red oak, which alternate with chestnut and exotic broad-leaved trees.
We pass the Porto della Torre Dam, which has been in operation since 1942 and is now also the ENEL hydroelectric plant. We meet the Sass di Biss, an erratic boulder of greenish color that has a particular geological interest and which bears some rock engravings of prehistoric times. Continuing we arrive at a vantage point at the edge of the Brughiera del Vigano, where it overlooks the Ticino.
*The itinerary is also suitable for mountain biking.
