Volandia, Park and Museum of Flight, is a museum and theme park that is housed in the historic buildings that have housed the historic Caproni Aeronautical Workshops since the early 1900s. Inaugurated on 8 May 2010, it occupies an area of 60,000 square meters between the municipalities of Somma Lombardo, Vizzola Ticino and Ferno. Volandia was created to celebrate the passion and history of world aeronautics, with particular attention to the Province with the Wings. The route, which winds over more than 5 km of exhibits, is organized into thematic areas that trace the history of aviation, from the first pioneering flights in a hot air balloon to the futuristic tiltrotor. Since 2015, Volandia has hosted exhibitions that go beyond the world of flight, such as the Ogliari Transport Museum, the Flaminio Bertoni Museum and from 2018 the ASI-BERTONE Collection.
The museum park is equipped with a conference room that can accommodate up to 160 guests with an auditorium layout, equipped with a projection system and an audio system with wireless microphones, as well as a WIFI connection. Inside the structure there are also smaller rooms ranging from 20 to 60 seats, ideal for training courses, workshops and laboratories.
Volandia also provides companies and individuals with some covered spaces within its pavilions for gala dinners and aperitifs among the planes and helicopters on display, in easily customizable evocative settings. The large green areas and indoor and outdoor play areas are also particularly suitable for organizing corporate family days.
