The Europa Park in Sesto Calende is located in the area surrounding the former Sant'Anna Military Harbour, which was used in the 1920s as a launching pad for seaplanes. For a long time, it belonged to the Savoia-Marchetti aeronautical company and, after being decommissioned in the 1970s, the space was reacquired in the early 2000s by the municipality and made available to all citizens.
At the entrance to the park, there is an arch with an eagle on it to testify to the important link with aviation.
The park extends over an area of more than 9 hectares, an ideal place to spend a pleasant day on the banks of the Ticino River. It is well-equipped with several picnic areas spread out at different points along the promenade, with benches, wooden tables and litter bins. In addition, there is a play area for the little ones.
