The Ca' dell'Orsa farm is located in Viggiù, a small village on the border with Switzerland, in the northern belt of the Varese Pre-Alps, in the Valle della Bevera nature park. Behind our vineyards watches over Monte Orsa, which, together with Monte San Giorgio, is a Unesco heritage site of great naturalistic value.
In this area, traces of viticulture were already present in the 18th century, unfortunately abandoned over the centuries.
The project was initially born from agronomic research that led us to firmly believe that our area, with its cool climate, is well suited to the production of grapes for sparkling wine bases, and in 2016 the first plantings were made. The varieties cultivated are Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Meunier, with which we make our Metodo Classico sparkling wines.
The only exception is a small vineyard of Traminer Aromatico, with which we produce a still white wine.
We take meticulous care in the field and in the cellar throughout all the vinification and ageing phases, and we are keen to welcome all wine enthusiasts or those who are simply curious about us to the winery, giving them the opportunity to visit us and taste our wines in the dedicated tasting room overlooking the vineyards.
