Nature Trails

The province of Varese is a must-see destination for those who love walking in nature and discovering authentic places, far from mass tourism. The numerous nature trails that cross the territory offer unique experiences between lakes, mountains, waterfalls, forests and traces of history. From trekking to light hiking, each path offers suggestive views, regenerating silences and the opportunity to immerse yourself in the greenest landscapes of Lombardy. Here are some of the most fascinating proposals:

Campo dei Fiori Regional Nature Park: it is a green lung that embraces the city of Varese and extends to the prealpine peaks, the Campo dei Fiori Natural Park is a nature reserve offering trails suitable for everyone, from experienced walkers to occasional hikers. Here you can explore ancient caves, such as the "Buco del Piombo", cross age-old beech forests, visit historical hermitages and admire views that range from Lake Maggiore to Monte Rosa. Each season offers different colors and atmospheres, making this park an ideal destination all year round.

Cycle and pedestrian loop of Lake Varese: it is a flat route of about 28 km that allows you to complete the complete tour of Lake Varese, ideal for relaxing walks, outdoor races or bike rides. Along the ring you will find unique natural environments, such as the Brabbia swamp, ornithological observers, rest areas and panoramic points. It is also a perfect itinerary for families with children and for those looking for a regenerating excursion in contact with nature.

Ring of the Ispra Furnaces: this is a circular route which combines nature, history and industrial archaeology. This route runs along the shores of Lake Maggiore, between dense forests and ancient brick buildings once used for the production of lime. The furnaces, now silent, tell a story of a past made of human effort and ingenuity, while the path winds through lush vegetation, small bridges and views of the lake. A walk suitable for all, which combines the pleasure of an excursion to discover a piece of local history.

Waterfalls of the territory: among the woods and valleys of the province of Varese there are many waterfalls, true jewels of water set in nature. The waterfall of Ferrera, also called "Fermona", is one of the most suggestive, with its jump of about 30 meters and the clear lake at the base. The waterfalls of Cittiglio, fed by the river San Giulio, offer a path immersed in the green between jumps of water and steep stretches. The Froda, in Nasca di Castelveccana, is one of the highest in the area and can be reached by a half-hour walk through woods and silences. Small but charming, the waterfall of Roggiano Valtravaglia is perfect for a relaxing break between Germignaga and Mesenzana.

These trails represent the unspoiled beauty of the territory of Varese and offer experiences that go beyond just walking: they are an invitation to slow down, breathe and connect deeply with nature. A journey between trails, scents of the forest, sounds of water and breathtaking views, ideal for those looking for authentic emotions at every step.
