Fondazione Marcello Morandini is the national reference point of concrete art, and one of the main ones in the European scene. A place open to the public where you can admire permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions and participate in multiple cultural events. The Foundation was founded in 2016 by the same artist and thanks to the generous contribution of two important collectors, whose dream was to see an open, accessible and inclusive museum where the works of Marcello Morandini were enhanced. Fondazione Marcello Morandini comes to life in 2017 with the start of the renovation and conversion of Villa Zanotti, one of the precious architecture of the early twentieth century that distinguish the identity cultural heritage of Varese, town where Morandini lives and works.
In the beautiful spaces of the villa, still in the completion phase, Fondazione Marcello Morandini is dedicated to the conservation and enhancement of works of art, design and architectural projects by Marcello Morandini. A production that presents itself as a synthesis of the arts in which the artist measures the human dimension by identifying and generating spaces, through an infinite geometry. The purpose of the Foundation is also to promote Concrete and Constructivist Art internationally through exhibition programs, conferences and publications, in order to make the Foundation the most important cultural institution for this precise artistic movement and its future expressions.
The collection
A selection of works from the Foundation's Collection, emblematic of Marcello Morandini's artistic journey. A long history that begins in 1964 with the first three-dimensional works and the first solo exhibition curated by Germano Celant the following year in Genoa, to arrive until today where many works are placed in museums and public collections in Italy and abroad.
Untiring in this path is Marcello Morandini's research, aimed at exploring the themes and studies of movement in space - torsion, tension, expansion, superimposition - which he translates into the world of geometry through the use of a two- and three-dimensional language, supported by the certainty of mathematics.
